Top Ten Ways to Prepare for the ASCA National Model
Presented by Eric Sparks

Preparing a school or district to implement the ASCA National Model is an important step to successful implementation. This session will present strategies that can be used to create buy-in from principals, district-level administrators and school counselors for the National Model and will share practical implementation tips.

Participants will be able to:

  • Create interest among principals and district level administrators in the ASCA National Model.
  • Discuss issues such as delivery system and fair-share strategies using language that principals respect and understand.
  • Connect the ASCA National Model to school-wide plans and data such as School Improvement Plans and AYP data.
  • Use school and district data that is already collected to prioritize a data-driven school counseling program and show school counseling results.

Participants will receive:

  • A PowerPoint that can be used to present the ASCA National Model to administrators and school counselors.
  • A handout with best practices of implementing the ASCA National Model.
  • A handout that will guide school counselors in the process of writing reasonable and measurable school counseling action plans in language that administrators respect and understand.
  • A system to divide the ASCA National Model into manageable components for implementation over a 3-5 year period.
  • CEU Credits: 0.15 (additional fees may apply)
